Highlights

  • Camp overnight on the Antarctic continent, sleeping on the ice beneath vast polar skies like a true explorer spirit.
  • Kayak through iceberg-dotted channels and Zodiac cruise beside whales, seals, and bustling penguin colonies nearby.
  • Snowshoe, hike, and attempt guided mountaineering ascents amid Antarctica’s dramatic glacier-carved peaks landscapes.

This 13-day Antarctica Basecamp voyage is a full-throttle immersion into the raw beauty of the Antarctic Peninsula, designed for those who don’t just want to see the White Continent—but truly live it. Sailing round-trip from Ushuaia at the tip of South America, you’ll trace the storied route of legendary explorers across the Drake Passage before entering a world of glacier-clad peaks, sculpted sea ice, and wildlife found nowhere else on Earth.

From the sheltered waters of the Neumayer and Errera Channels to the dramatic sweep of Neko Harbour and the photogenic Lemaire Channel, each day presents a new alpine amphitheater of snow and stone. Historic Port Lockroy offers a cultural counterpoint to the wildness—a former British research station turned museum—while islands such as Pléneau, Petermann, and Cuverville teem with gentoo and Adélie penguins, blue-eyed shags, and hauled-out seals. Humpback and minke whales are frequent companions in these nutrient-rich waters.

What sets this journey apart is its spirit of participation. This is Antarctica as your adventure playground. Paddle a kayak through glassy, iceberg-dotted bays. Strap on snowshoes for inland hikes. Attempt soft-climb mountaineering ascents under the guidance of seasoned expedition staff. Photograph luminous icebergs during dedicated workshops. And, perhaps most memorably, camp overnight on the Antarctic continent itself—falling asleep to the hush of a polar night in Paradise Bay or near Damoy Point.

On board, expert naturalists and guides enrich your experience with engaging lectures, recaps, and briefings that prepare you for each landing. Off ship, every Zodiac cruise and shore excursion brings you closer to the elements, whether cruising past calving glaciers or standing quietly among bustling penguin colonies.
