Highlights

  • Witness immense King Penguin mega-colonies in South Georgia, alive with sound, colour, movement, and raw polar spirit
  • Explore remote Falkland Islands shores, meeting rockhopper, gentoo, and macaroni penguins in untouched habitats
  • Sail the South Atlantic with expert guides, Zodiac landings, wildlife lectures, and unforgettable seabird encounters

Discover the wild southern frontiers on this unforgettable expedition from Puerto Madryn to the remote wildlife sanctuaries of the Falkland Islands and South Georgia, where some of the largest penguin colonies on Earth thrive. These legendary sub-Antarctic islands are famed for their overwhelming abundance of life, dramatic glaciated coastlines, and deep connections to the golden age of polar exploration, offering a journey into one of the most powerful natural theatres on the planet.

Sailing during the austral spring, this voyage is perfectly timed for peak wildlife activity, when King Penguin chicks stand in vast, rust-brown crèches, fur seals crowd the beaches, and albatrosses and petrels rule the skies. Cooler, crisp conditions bring exceptional clarity to the landscapes, glittering ice fringes, and long, golden days ideal for photography and exploration.

Onboard, guests enjoy expert-led lectures, wildlife spotting from open decks, and a warm, social expedition atmosphere, while daily Zodiac cruises and shore landings bring you face to face with towering penguin colonies, historic whaling stations, Shackleton’s final resting place, and glacier-walled bays alive with sound and motion. Each landing feels like stepping into a living documentary.

Emotionally, this voyage is equal parts humbling and exhilarating, creating moments of awe, laughter, and quiet reflection as you stand amid hundreds of thousands of King Penguins in places so remote they feel untouched by time. Guests return home with a profound connection to nature and a sense of having witnessed something truly rare.

This expedition offers the chance to walk in the footsteps of the world’s greatest polar explorers, venture into one of the planet’s least-visite...

Arrive & Welcome: Puerto Madryn

Welcome to Puerto Madryn. Upon arrival at the airport you will be transferred to your pre-cruise hotel.

After a short rest you may explore the nearby district on your own and soak up the unique atmosphere of this seaside town. The shopping area reflects strong Patagonian influences and offers a wide range of souvenirs and local artworks. Don’t miss to try the local seafood as this is highly recommended.

Puerto Madryn is one of South America’s premier whale-watching destinations. Every July to December, southern right whales gather offshore to breed and nurse their calves. While strolling along the shoreline, keep a close eye on the water and you may be rewarded with a spectacular sighting.

Our complimentary Air2Sea transfer will be available from Puerto Madryn Airport (PMY). Pre-reserved is required. Please leave some time between flight arrival and shuttle bus departure.

If you will travel from other places or arrive earlier, your hotel room will be available for check-in starting from 3pm.
