Highlights
- Witness mighty walruses, curious reindeer, and the elusive polar bear amid Svalbard’s stark and beautiful ice-edge wilderness.
- Glide by Zodiac past Svitjodbreen’s glaciers, capturing surreal Arctic light and the thunderous roar of calving ice.
- Step ashore at old trappers’ huts and prospector camps, uncovering echoes of Arctic history in a land ruled by nature.
Set sail from Longyearbyen, gateway to the High Arctic, on a 10-day voyage through Svalbard’s rugged west coast—an expedition where wildlife encounters, history, and raw natural beauty intertwine in the heart of the polar wilderness. As you journey past towering cliffs, sprawling glaciers, and ice-flecked fjords, you’ll navigate landscapes shaped by both human endeavor and the relentless forces of ice and sea.
This summer voyage offers the best of the Arctic season: endless daylight, mild conditions for exploration, and thriving wildlife along the dynamic ice edge. Here, seals haul out on floes, walrus colonies lounge on beaches, and polar bears patrol the drifting ice in search of prey. Migratory seabirds fill the skies, from kittiwakes and guillemots to ivory gulls, creating a living tapestry of sound and motion against the silence of the north.
Your days unfold in the company of expert naturalists and seasoned expedition guides, with each landing and Zodiac cruise revealing another side of Svalbard’s story—from the haunting remains of early trappers’ huts at Gnålodden and Copper Camp to the pristine fjords of Hornsund and the calving fronts of Svitjodbreen. Between adventures ashore, enjoy onboard lectures, wildlife spotting from deck, and the quiet camaraderie of a ship bound for the edge of the known world.
This voyage is a chance to experience the Arctic in its purest form—untamed, illuminating, and humbling. You’ll return home not just with photographs, but with the rare satisfaction of having explored one of the planet’s last true frontiers, in the luminous heart of the midnight sun. Perfect for photographers, wildlife lovers, and those drawn to the spirit of discovery.
