Highlights

  • Reach some of Earth’s northernmost lands, landing on remote polar desert islands and cruising deep into the Arctic ice pack.
  • Experience High Arctic wildlife up close, from walrus haul-outs and seabird cliffs to seals, whales, and elusive polar bears.
  • Discover Svalbard’s exploration heritage, from abandoned whaling stations to Ny-Ålesund, the world’s northernmost settlement.

This unforgettable Arctic expedition takes you far beyond the familiar, deep into the wild heart of Svalbard—an archipelago synonymous with polar exploration, dramatic glaciated landscapes, and iconic Arctic wildlife. Sailing from Longyearbyen, the northernmost town on Earth, you’ll quickly leave the last traces of civilization behind and enter a realm of towering mountains, immense glaciers, and ice-filled seas that have shaped centuries of human curiosity and ambition.

The voyage explores both northwest and northeast Svalbard, regions steeped in history and protected today as pristine Arctic wilderness. From the haunting remnants of 17th-century whaling stations to stark polar deserts sculpted by ice and wind, these destinations tell a powerful story of survival, exploitation, and nature’s remarkable ability to reclaim the land. As you push farther north, you’ll reach landscapes few travelers ever see—remote islands edging toward the top of the world, and the vast, shifting Arctic ice pack that stretches all the way to the North Pole.

Traveling during the Arctic summer brings extraordinary rewards. Continuous daylight bathes the scenery in a surreal glow, maximizing time for exploration and wildlife observation. The seas are alive with activity, seabirds crowd the cliffs, walrus gather along the shores, and the ice itself becomes a hunting ground for seals and polar bears. Conditions change by the hour, making each day feel like a true expedition shaped by nature rather than a fixed script.

Life on board blends comfort with discovery, enriched by expert-led lectures that deepen your understanding of the Arctic’s wildlife, geology, and exploration history. Off the ship, Zodiac cruises and shore landings place you directly in the landscape—walking across tundra and polar desert, gliding past glaciers, and quietly scanning the ice for movement that might reveal a bear or whale. A visit to Ny-Ålesund offers a fascinating contrast...
