Highlights

  • Experience Iceland’s raw power—tectonic rifts, geysers, and waterfalls—before sailing into the wild beauty of the High Arctic.
  • Venture to remote Jan Mayen and Svalbard, where whales, walrus, and elusive polar bears roam in pristine Arctic wilderness.
  • Cross the Arctic Circle to Europe’s northern edge, where midnight sun and auroras illuminate an unforgettable Arctic adventure.

Begin your polar voyage in the land of fire and ice, where Iceland’s raw geology and Viking lore set the stage for a northbound journey into some of the planet’s wildest frontiers. After tracing the iconic Golden Circle—where geysers erupt beside ancient parliament grounds and tectonic plates pull continents apart—you’ll sail past towering cliffs and into the glacier-sculpted fjords of the remote Westfjords, a realm of thunderous waterfalls and whale-rich waters. From birdwatcher’s paradise Vigur Island to the culture-rich town of Ísafjörður, this lesser-traveled region offers a serene and stirring start to your Arctic journey.

As you cross the open seas, Jan Mayen rises from the mist—a volcanic island rarely seen, where the immense Beerenberg volcano dominates a surreal and seldom-visited landscape. Then it’s onward into the Norwegian Sea and toward the crown jewel of Arctic wilderness: Svalbard. Here, every day is an unfolding adventure crafted by expert guides, with ice, weather, and wildlife shaping a flexible itinerary. Zodiac excursions take you to immense bird cliffs, walrus haul-outs, and—if fortune smiles—polar bears roaming the sea ice. Choose to kayak glacial bays, plunge into the polar sea, or simply absorb the silence and scale of this vast, white realm.

Your expedition doesn’t end in Svalbard. It continues to Bear Island and Norway’s dramatic Arctic coast, culminating at the fabled North Cape—the northernmost point in continental Europe. Depending on conditions, you may witness the northern lights flicker across the sky or bask in the golden hue of the midnight sun. Along the way, you’ll deepen your understanding of Arctic ecology and exploration through onboard lectures, citizen science initiatives, and cultural encounters.
