Guests are encouraged to participate in the adventure—help spot wildlife, assist with gear, and learn about the environment directly from passionate polar guides and scientists. The crew’s flexibility and enthusiasm make every voyage feel like a tailored journey, not a fixed itinerary.
Itineraries & Activities
MV Freya primarily sails Antarctica and the Arctic, with a focus on in-depth, off-the-beaten-path routes. In Antarctica, voyages often explore the Antarctic Peninsula, with the chance to venture to the Weddell Sea or South Shetland Islands, depending on conditions. In the Arctic, she navigates Svalbard, with a rare capacity to reach further into ice-locked fjords and polar bear territory.
Activities are focused on maximum time off the ship—multiple landings per day when conditions allow, Zodiac cruising through iceberg-filled bays, and spontaneous wildlife encounters. There are often extra opportunities for extended hikes, polar plunges, or even camping ashore, all made possible by the vessel’s small group size and flexible schedule.
Sustainability & Unique Features
Though not luxury in the conventional sense, MV Freya’s operations reflect a deep commitment to responsible travel. Her small size ensures a light environmental footprint, and her expedition style emphasizes low-impact landings and close engagement with nature. There are no crowds, no waiting for your turn—just unfiltered access to some of the most breathtaking wilderness on Earth. This ship isn’t about indulgence; it’s about immersi
