Across the Arctic Frontier: Iceland, East Greenland & the Northern Lights
Lo más destacado
- Venture into East Greenland’s vast fjords and pristine Arctic wilderness amid icebergs, soaring peaks, and polar wildlife.
- Attempt a rare landing on remote Jan Mayen, where the glacier-clad Beerenberg volcano towers above black shores.
- Visit isolated Ittoqqortoormiit and search for polar bears, whales, musk oxen, seals, and Arctic foxes in the High Arctic.
Embark aboard the Seaventure on an extraordinary Arctic expedition linking Iceland, East Greenland, and the remote volcanic island of Jan Mayen in a voyage defined by isolation, immense natural beauty, and true exploratory spirit. Sailing from Reykjavik across the Denmark Strait, you’ll journey into a world where glaciers calve into vast fjords, sea ice drifts with the currents, and nature still dictates the rhythm of travel.
At the heart of the voyage lies East Greenland, one of the most remote and untouched regions in the Arctic. Here, you’ll explore the staggering landscapes of Scoresby Sound — the largest fjord system on Earth — where colossal icebergs float beneath jagged mountain ranges and wildlife thrives along the shifting ice edge. Each day unfolds according to the conditions, allowing your experienced expedition team to craft an authentic polar adventure shaped by weather, wildlife, and the ever-changing Arctic environment itself. The journey also offers a rare glimpse into life at the edge of the inhabitable world with a visit to Ittoqqortoormiit, one of Greenland’s most isolated communities, where Inuit traditions and Arctic resilience remain deeply woven into everyday life.
Venturing farther north, the expedition explores the immense wilderness of Northeast Greenland National Park, the largest national park on the planet and one of Earth’s last truly pristine frontiers. Zodiac cruises and guided shore landings reveal dramatic fjords, glacier-fed waterways, tundra landscapes, and opportunities to spot musk oxen, Arctic foxes, seabirds, seals, whales, and — with luck — polar bears roaming near the pack ice. Few travelers ever reach this remote realm, making every encounter feel both intimate and profoundly humbling.

A crossing of the Greenland Sea leads to Jan Mayen, a seldom-visited Norwegian island dominated by the snow and glacier-covered Beerenberg volcano. Weather and permissions permitting, stepping ashore here is a privilege granted to only a small number of Arctic travelers each year, adding a remarkable sense of achievement to the journey.
Throughout the voyage, life aboard Seaventure blends comfort with discovery. Expert-led presentations on Arctic wildlife, glaciology, exploration history, and climate deepen your understanding of the regions you traverse, while expansive deck views provide endless opportunities for whale watching, seabird sightings, and quiet moments of reflection surrounded by the polar wilderness.
This expedition is ideal for adventurous travelers seeking a true off-the-map experience — one that prioritizes raw nature, flexibility, wildlife encounters, and the spirit of exploration over conventional tourism. By journey’s end, you’ll leave not only with unforgettable memories of ice-filled fjords and remote Arctic landscapes, but with the rare satisfaction of having ventured into some of the most inaccessible and awe-inspiring corners of the Northern Hemisphere.
